Weekly private lessonsStudents come to the studio for 45 or 60 minute lessons. Lessons are taught Mondays-Fridays. We have 36 lessons per academic year with part of each summer off, if desired. Healthy piano technique is taught from the first lesson, and students are given many choices in the music repertoire they play, along with pieces assigned from their core method books. Like the classics? Great! You must practice, but you will gain the skills to play them. Like making up your own songs? Creativity is embraced here.

Do you teach music theory?Music theory is the grammar of music, and along with keyboard skills (such as scales, chords, and arpeggios). I insist that students use a combination of a theory text, worksheets, and iPad apps to make sure they become fluent in the language of music. We play music theory games, too!
Do you accept transfer students?Yes, and I have a winning track record of taking transfer students and helping them achieve success. If you are looking to make a change, then contact me to schedule a "Just Looking" interview/audition.

Do you offer studio recitals?Of course! Twice per year, in November and May. Students perform the songs they love the most, and many also perform in piano ensembles--from duets and trios to works for 2 pianos, 8 hands. Recitals are not terrifying here at all. They're actually fun, and people look forward to the next recital.
need a collaborative pianist? In addition to teaching, I accompany vocalists, choirs, and instrumentalists when they need a pianist. Partnering with others to make music is one of my favorite parts of being a musician! Though I prefer some notice, if possible, I am an excellent sight reader, so call me last minute if you're in a jam. It happens frequently - suddenly your pianist can't play, and you are in need of an 11th hour personnel change. With over 35 years' experience as a professional accompanist, I can likely assist you with your event.
