Love the piano?

SO DO I.  I can teach you.

MEET janelle bracken

Welcome!

Studio J

My name is Janelle Bracken, and Studio J is the warm, encouraging space in my home where I teach piano.  Music is wonderful, and powerful.  Each child can begin piano lessons only once.  Make it a great beginning!

I give my very best to each student because I know how crucial a great start is to the success and confidence of a new player.  I mentor, teach, support, and enthusiastically guide each of my students on a fun and engaging musical journey.  My school-aged students develop musical skills that will be with them for the rest of their lives and many of my students play other instruments.  Because I love the first years of lessons, I am passionate  about providing beginners with a solid foundation for the music they want to play in the future, whatever style that may be.

Located in Indianapolis, IN, the studio is conveniently located off I-65 at the Southport Road exit.

Recent News

Studio J lessons are in-person.   😊
  • Studio J is still at full enrollment as of 4/6/2025, but I will poll current students in May regarding their enrollment for 2025-2026.  I will be drawing up a new teaching schedule, and since several families are changing schools, I anticipate there will be several time slot changes.  Whether there will be additional openings remains to be determined, however.  Please reach out if you are interested in having your student join Studio J at some point.  Tell me more about your child's interest in piano, using the contact form to the right.  I will be happy to send you the link to a Google survey for potential new students.
  • On Friday, 5/9/2025, we will present the Studio J Spring Recital.
  • I began new students this summer, and the rest of the studio returned on Monday, August 12.  The  teaching roster for 2024-2025 is full.

  • On Friday evening, May 12, 2023 we held our Studio J Spring Recital, and Jonah Irons performed on his last recital as a high school senior.  It was his 27th recital since beginning piano study at age 4.  He and his two older brothers concluded a 14 year-long era of piano study here at Studio J.  They will certainly be missed!

  • Our Spring Recital was wonderful!  It was held on Friday, April 22, 2022 at Southland Community Church.  One delightful hour of piano solos and duets presented by students aged 6 to 18.  I have two seniors graduating this year who have both studied here for many years.  It's always sad to see them go!
  • Fall Recital - November 19, 2021.  We welcomed back one student who had been online for over a year.  Sweet times!

The child is always made to feel safe to ask questions when something is not understood.  It's ok to make a mistake.  Janelle is also firm with her students in a loving way and makes sure they know the importance of practicing their lessons.  Janelle is a positive person and she laughs.  We all feel good after lessons and leave with a smile on our faces.  Janelle truly inspires her students."
